Public Education Issues
Although public education should be considered the last crusader as the chance for equal rights in education, the amount of public education issues simply seems to continue to pile up. It’s all too often that we hear public schools as the punch line of jokes. But as the one body that is responsible for providing education to the masses without charging tuition, shouldn’t we expect that there will of course be a few issues?
Granted, it most definitely poses quite a challenge to attempt to provide a sufficient level of education in the face of countless children from countless different backgrounds, but that should not ever mean that we are to accept mediocrity. There is always an avenue of excellence that can be pursued. And education should never be an exception to that dogma.
One of the leading issues in public schools is the inability for teachers to cater to the specific educational needs of each student within their class. Because of the different levels of intelligence and behavioral patterns, teachers are often left with the huge challenge of making sure that each student is provided with the educational tools they require in order to succeed in the class and beyond. Much needs to be done in order to make sure that the challenged students receive enough attention to help them succeed. However, at the same time, this creates the challenge of ensuring that the more competent students don’t become disengaged due to boredom and a lack of challenging coursework.
